More Technical Details
Dispersive’s technologies focus on ways to enhance the TCP/IP experience while maintaining full protocol compliance. To accomplish this goal, Dispersive has developed patent-pending technology, based on virtual machines, that transforms clients into fully functioning routers. This capability reduces timing delays that can occur because of bottlenecks at ISPs and introduces tighter security controls for the user by enabling the direct file transfer from one computer to another computer with authentication and oversight provided by the server.
The interface for the user is a simple “drag and drop” function to transfer large files such as pictures, audio and video onto a target computer. The server oversees the request and maintains the IP addresses to enable the transfer to occur regardless of whether the other user is mobile or fixed. Along with the normal security measures, Dispersive uses virtualized routing at the client to maintain security at the packet level and enable direct communication to the other client without having to transfer the file onto a server and then force the user to login and retrieve the file. This enables real-time workflow, simple sharing of large files and directories, and true peer-to-peer communications.
